Visual Content Ideas for Your Blog
Every blogger knows that continually coming up with new ideas for content can be a challenge. If you are looking for some inspiration for your blog, we have some ideas to help your blog be more visual. Why should your blog be visual? Blogs don’t have to be only filled with text and shouldn’t actually be text only. Images, videos, and infographics will make your blog much more engaging.

There are plenty of creative commons and royalty free sites where you can find images that are relevant to your blog or a specific blog post. In many cases, an attractive image will help do the trick in attracting visitors or readers. When you add images, be sure to add captions for each image. There are other stock photo sites that charge for images; however some of the images are so popular that you end up seeing them everywhere. That way, you will still get the attention of those readers who just skim over and look at only the images. Two websites that I really love are Gratisography.com and Unsplash.com. They offer creative, unique, and unusual images completely royalty free. You are allowed to do whatever you like with them, they are all high resolution, and more are added very regularly. The image at the top of this blog is from Gratisography.com and here is one from Unsplash.com:
Using Your Own Photographs on Your Blog
As you know, your images must be royalty free or you need to get permission or attribute credit. If you take your own photographs, you eliminate that problem and on top of it, you have your own unique images that no one else will have. Your own photography also helps to ensure that your blog is unique. No one likes stock photos that they have seen everywhere. If you do take your own pictures, watermark them with your blog name or URL so that they won’t be used by others without giving you credit. If others using your images are a problem or issue for you, then clearly write your policy regarding images on your blog.
Infographics for Your Blog

Infographics are another really engaging way to present content alongside images. They work great to show statistics, prove a point, or just presenting your point of view in a creative way. You can have infographics made for you or use tools to make them yourself. If infographics isn’t your thing, you can still access other free online tools to make charts, graphs, and word clouds. Here are a few free tools that can help you get started:
The benefits of infographics can be measured by increased engagement and readers, longer time spent on your blog, and in social shares. Infographics have the potential to be very viral on social channels, which can increase your reach and social media efforts.
Video Ideas for Your Blog
Vlogging has been around just about as long as blogging has. Of course, it has become more popular. Many bloggers have a regular video segment as part of their blog. Videos can be segments of a podcast you run, interviews with experts or people relevant to your blog topic, or even SlideShare presentations. Gauge your audience carefully when it comes to video, many online visitors or surfers are turned off by video that starts as soon as page loads, so either turn off the sound if you have something start up right away or ask visitors to press the play button if this is an issue with your audience.
Summary and Takeaways
Combining images, color, and video to your blog will make your blog more engaging and exciting to readers. Imagery can help those readers who have limited time and just scan your blog to better understand it. There are definitely benefits to your blog from images, infographics, and video. However, the way to make the most of blending all of these elements into your blog is to poll your readers, test the usability, and measure the statistics on different types of posts to see what your blog’s readers respond to best.
